Finally.

13 May

Yes, finally I get some courage to write a new blog entry. I know that I’ve been quite absent lately but there were to many things to do.

A new season started with new challenges ahead. Even if I had a slow start, because of the long winter, so far I had 3 podiums out of 3 races.

I’m also in a brand new team – Cannondale InterTeam, riding on my favourite bike – a pink F29, supporting a special cause.

3rd @ 1st stage of Clujul Pedaleaza (our local championship) where I’ve race a borrowed bike from my friend Marius, as my new Cannondale wasn’t ready then. Now I really realize that narrow handlebars sucks !

The next race was the ProBikers Marathon in Oradea where I’ve decided as usual to ride the short distance as a good training for the future XCO races. Fast track, I can say that made for road riders wasn’t a proper one, but now I had my new weapon available: Cannondale F29 Pink. Strong start with some riders from Hungary. I tried to catch the leader with another rider next too me but he wasn’t working to much to do that. In the last kilometers after a short sprint I couldn’t keep the pace. He caught and beat the leader in the end. I’ve finished 3rd overall and 1st at my category.

The last race so far this season was the second edition of the Faget Marathon, a race organized by Clujul Pedaleaza and InterTeam. I’ve raced again at the Race distance. I knew the course pretty well and I was prepared but the Friday before the race I had a big surprise. I got sick. I had an awful night and a hard Saturday. A lot of tee, honey and lemon helped but I wasn’t 100% ready for the race.  Second overall and 1st again at my category.

I think that the organizers made a really good job with the race even if some of the riders had small issues loosing the path after some smart-asses took the marking tape from the course.

For the race from Oradea and Cluj I had my girlfriend Simona next to me to support me and it means a lot ! Also my dad was at the finish line of Faget Marathon to cheer me up. On the course a lot of people knew me and encouraged me. Means a lot more than you can imagine.

Many thanks also to my sponsors, my new team and everyone that supports my fight against cancer!

More photos from the first 3 races can be seen HERE.

Future posts will come soon, I promise to be more active from now on 🙂

Take care and most of all: HAVE FUN !

Cheers,

Vlad
