Clujul Pedaleaza – 5th stage

Finally I come on time with the race report 🙂

Last week end I raced the 5th stage (out of 6) from Clujul Pedaleaza championship.

I was pretty upset after the race/result from Maros Marathon but the weeks after I just had fun on the bike even if it was with the pink race machine or with the pink trail monster truck (as I like to call them) just to forget it and regain my motivation. The cold weather has been installed over Romania too so from short pants and sleeveless jerseys we got on windstopper jackets, gloves and overshoes. No problem because sliding and drifting on wet leafs and roots it’s fun !

The week before the event got on the track with my team mate Eli to prepare some small jumps and slopes, just to make the race much more exciting.

Race day: Sunday, October 14; cold, windy, foggy and drizzle.

I still prepared well, got there first from the team, get the number plates and registration packs and prepared for some trainer warm up. Dad got there to cheer me up and also brought the BBQ to warm us up (and also feed us) after the race.

Got on the roller to warm up as there where around 9-10C. The start was delayed with 5-10 minutes so when I started the race I couldn’t find a decent pace for the first 2 laps. It was the time when my team mate Eli pushed a bit and gain some terrain. The gap was almost the same from there until the end. Also after the first 2 laps the course started to feel slippery so I tried to feel confident on the descends and push harder on the climbs. Sliding next to some trees wasn’t funny but finally I was 2nd behind my team mate Eli. Kiks was 3rd. Like this I’ve consolidated the second position on the overall ranking and for the last stage I just have to finish it. But I still wanna get another podium. This will be a very good thing for me !

After that, even if it was raining my dad, after cheering me up, prepared a nice barbecue for me and my friends so at the end it was a great day ! Thanks dad for all the support.

Right after the final stage I will prepare my pink Cannondale Flash for auction, then I do hope that I will continue this project even for the next season, as now I had a lot of help from other people promoting this campaign.
