Faget Marathon – fast and tricky

Hey folks,

I am coming with the report pretty late, but you will find out why in the next rows.

Today I will talk you about the first edition of Faget Marathon, organized by Clujul Pedaleaza Team. I can tell you that I loved the course because it was on my home trails so I knew it pretty well so I had a small advantage. I’ve raced the short track, because I love the short and intense races – like the XCO races. I am not such a endurance rider so you might understand what I am talking about.

The start of the race was pretty fast but I’ve managed to enter first in the woods. Then Blaszo Marton, the winner at the long distance got in front and took a faster pace that I didn’t want to follow. After that a small group was formed but after a few kilometers, on a longer climb I’ve managed to be a little faster a loose them. I was nervous a bit on a short woody path because the day before the race, when I was checking the course, a tree branch broke my derailleur hanger and I’ve twisted the rear derailleur. I am happy that I had a spare hanger and I could fix the derailleur. There I think I’ve lost a few minutes but I want it to make it to the finish line.

I’ve pushed harder on the last climb and I kept a good speed on the descends. Everything was good in the end and I won with more then 4 minutes from the second place. I always like to enjoy the taste of victory.

I am really happy about and this motivates me for the future. The bad thing was that I’ve missed the Buda Marathon on 1st of May because I got sick after this race so I had to stay much more in the bed even if I want it to ride.

Now I am looking forward to get better and ride faster.
