First race of the season
29 Apr
This is for the first time I don’t know how to start a race report, am I getting too old? I don’t wanna think about this
Faget Marathon was the first race of the season for me. Unfortunately the illness that is bugging me for the past two weeks and didn’t let me ride as much as wanted. I had a pretty decent start, found a good rhythm and everything went as expected.
But everything ended up pretty brutal. I felt the batteries getting depleted without any kind of warning so I had to run on “energy save” mode just to be able to finish the race and avoid more muscle cramps. Everything got worse when we got back on the common route for those from the short course and I was trying to pass them.
In my opinion this wasn’t the best solution and I hope that the organizers will think about it for next year.
The bike worked really well, I am super happy with the new F-Si and the XX1 drivetrain. All the parts are a great mix between lightness and durability.
Anyway I’ve learned a lot from this hard experience and hope that this will pay off later in the season. 15th place at UCI category (and right now I don’t know the overall, but it’s pretty far back) isn’t the usual spot for me and won’t be for long. Now I look forward to get some good training and recovery.
Many thanks to all the sponsors and partners involved, you can see them in the right column. I appreciate all their help.
Congratulations to my dad who raced too and finished 11th at his age category. I’m proud that he racing and he finished safe. That’s the most important.
Also congrats to everyone who raced, especially the ones that were faster than me.
I hope that I will get in the best shape a few weeks from now and I will have the chance to race 4th time in a row at the World Cup from Nove Mesto, CZE, getting a few points to Romania.
Keep in touch. Cheers,
Vlad
I’ve managed to see more seconds with me at the 12th minute. If you see more let me know. The transmission is pretty long but it’s a good thing that the National Television (TVR) came here. Big up.
