Gentlemen’s Race TTT

6 Oct

Or Team Time Trial. My first road race ever and the first of the week end.

A Gentlemen’s Race is a type of unsanctioned, unmarshalled road ride established in the Pacific Northwest, USA in 2008. Inspired by the sort of riding of the Rapha Continental project, with a notion of classic cycle races, a penchant for gravel and an appreciation of the small communities, people and places in outlying areas, the Gentlemen’s Race was meant to push the boundaries typical of cycling races.

As said before this was my first road ever. The teams were were drawn randomly so you could have some luck or not. I think I was lucky, not because we were super fast but a team that supported each other the best way we could.

It was nothing compared I previously knew about racing but it was fun. Even though the stake wasn’t really important I did my best to win. And we did it, as a team. I lead the team train when I saw the speed was decreasing and pushed one of my team mates Andrei C. which happens to be also one of my sponsors (Maratonic) on the climb and waited Razvan C. to get it in the group on the descend. The idea was to let him know that we ride, suffer and win together.

The idea of these races is cool. Would like to see similar things in mountainbike too.

Once again I am proud of my team, happy how my Cannondale Synapse rode and glad for the win.

Thanks to everyone.

Cheers,

Vlad
