Imprezzio Global MTB Marathon

Imprezzio Global MTB Marathon was organized as usual at Baisoara. Lovely area, with a lot of potential for biking and other outdoor activities.

I am not a marathon fan but sometimes I participate at this kind of events. This course was nice and the race was so close to my hometown that I couldn’t miss it. But the weather forecast wasn’t the best. In fact heavy rain and thunderstorms were predicted.

We had to clear two loops. A quick storm before the start managed to drop the temperatures from 25 to 10C. I had a decent start but then I tried to find a pace suited for my heavy legs feeling. I’ve enjoyed the descents even if somewhere on the course the organizers directed me for a few meters on a wrong path loosing about a minute or so. I didn’t try to recover that precious time because I knew I could make big mistakes so I’ve kept my pace.

After 30-40 minutes I’ve started to hear some thunders. Heavy rain started too but the drop who filled the glass was the thunder that hit the ground around 100m in front of me. Damn, that was really frightening. From that moment I’ve set the “idle” mode trying to reach the finish line alive !

The organizers decided to end up the race after the first loop. In one way I was happy but on the other hand sad because the course was pretty cool.

I hope to come back here, riding and enjoying the course and the beautiful area.
