NapoCup CX
5 Dec
This year is the first season of the Romanian CX Cup and even if I have a proper bike to race I’ve missed the first two races so I didn’t had any motivations for last two.
Eventually I’ve decided to start at the last stage, in my hometown, but as they also had a MTB race I want to do both. I had a couple of weeks of training on the CX bike and I started to learn the feeling and I was getting confident, especially on descents. Unfortunately the weather changed during the night so at 6:30 AM I was changing the tires on my Cannondale Scalpel-Si (to Michelin Wild Mud). Because I know I don’t have the skills for a Cyclocross race in this conditions I want to play safe and didn’t risk anything.
It was a good chance for me to test some equipment in a race, the new GripGrab Raptor gloves and the BioRacer Rainy Jacket.
We had the start at 10:30 and I want to be the first guy in the first corners. Not to push as hard as possible but to keep a clean line and stay as much as possible on the bike. But I kept being first until the end. It was a good training improving the lap times until the end. I was lucky and inspired with the Mud tires.
I say that is a good starting point for the upcoming season but this was the last race of the year. I will continue training and preparing for the next year events.
With this occasion I would like to thank my family and sponsors for the support. It was a hard season, but the best year so far because the birth of my son Felix.
I hope to come back stronger and faster in 2018.
Cheers,
Vlad
