XCO National Championships
18 Aug
I’ve been in a short holiday so being a bit far from the computer I couldn’t write this post until now.
As I told you in my previous race report we have a strange situation in Romania. At our Cycling Federation there are two leaderships and only one is recognized by UCI. So even if we had the first round of the “nationals” at Paltinis, UCI didn’t count them. I went to Izvorul Muresului to participate to the other round.
I didn’t miss that place, because the course was pretty boring, not pretty technical and with a lot of muddy clay if it would have rained. I’ve arrived there the day before with my girlfriend Simona, got on the course to check it. Noting spectacular, just two long climbs and two long descends.
Race day: Less riders at the start line because most of the guys that participated at Paltinis though that these ones will not be organized. I didn’t cared about it, I just wanna ride my bike. Started pretty well but then the sun and the heat made me loose the concentration and the power. Nothing to much to write about it: finished 2nd at Elite and 4th Overall, but I can not consider the Romanian vice-champion (even though technically and officially at UCI I am) because there are more riders that can beat me and most of them didn’t raced here.
Anyway I hope that things inside our Federation will end well and riders won’t be confused with things that they shouldn’t even bother.
Until then many thanks to Simona for all the help and to my sponsors for the support !
Soon I will tell you about more from Geiger Mountainbike Challenge in Sibiu.
Cheers,
Vlad
