Floresti Triathlon
24 Aug
Well, was Xterra, but it’s still triathlon.
As it’s raining, I’ve decided to write the race report a bit faster than usual. A few weeks ago I’ve heard about the Triathlon from Floresti. Being really close to my home I though to find some mates and race at team relay. First plan was to ride with my friends Radu and Daniel, but as they decided to involve more in the organization of the event they’ve suggested me two other guys: Alin Reus and Tudor Sofron. Alin a really good swimmer and Tudor is a good runner.
So we met, put a plan together and registered as TVA Team (TVA stands for V.A.T. in English).
As it was the first event of this kind I didn’t knew what the things will be like, but everything went excellent. The water was pretty cold (around 17-18C) but Alin was the first swimmer to out the water, with a big lead from the second place.
Now the pressure was all on me. I didn’t had anyone to follow and the course was modified from the one I previously knew so the first lap I rode a bit easier to check the track and not get lost but the exit from a meadow caused me some difficulties and I’ve lost about a minute to find the right course. But then the second lap started and I’ve pushed a bit harder on the climbs, taking this race as a preparation for the upcoming event. So the second lap was with 2 minutes faster than the first one, having a big lead from the 2nd place. The course wasn’t too technical excepting the first climb and the last descent but a big power consumption was needed to keep the momentum on some climbs.
Was the first time when I’ve finished 1st but I didn’t knew if we will win.
Tudor just had to do what he knows best and he did. After about 40 minutes he crossed the finish line and our team won. We don’t know just yet the official time but I am really happy for the win and I look forward to participate to other events of this kind. Also this small victory (as all of us worked for it to make it big) is something that motivates me to push as hard as possible for last events of the season.
Also congratulations for Tudor C. and his team for finishing on the podium too. Tudor represents one of my main sponsors – Imprezzio Global, but he also loves the outdoor activities.
Many thanks to Simona and my dad for being next to me and supporting me, many thanks to my team mates Tudor and Alin for their good fight and to my all sponsors for supporting me and making this possible.
Also congratulations to Radu Vadan for making this event possible ! Hope to race again here again.
Finally but not least, I am sorry to hear about Annefleur Kalvenhaar passing away after a crash at Meribel World Cup. My condolences to her family, friends, team mates and everyone who knew her.
Cheers,
Vlad
