Double race week end

15 Jul

Back again to the keyboard. Ciucas enduro is one of the few events of this kind in Romania (at least so far). Even if last year was pretty muddy I’ve decided to come back again for some fun.

I was pretty unlucky because it ended up to be muddy and slippery again.

We arrived there on Thrusday to check the course but it turned out to be a mistake because on Saturday I was already tired. Friday on the qualification I was the 8th but it wasn’t so important.

First stage was foggy and had a slippery and sticky mud. I’ve crashed something like 5 times loosing a lot of seconds. The 2nd stage wasn’t better it had even more mud. A big chunk of if ended up on my Adidas ID2 googles and I was riding pretty blind. Got up again for the 3rd and last stage which was the longest, had some uphills and a lot of pedaling sections. I tried my best and pushed as hard as possible but in the end overall I was the 12th out of 100 riders. Not bad thinking that I didn’t had any specific training before, just riding the bike, but 4 minutes behind the winner is a lot. I will see what I will do at the next enduro races.

You can also find an article about it on freerider.ro.

After the race I got in the car and drive back home and on Sunday with Marius we went to Cheile Turzii Race.

This was the second edition of the race but everything was screwed up. The marshals on the course didn’t knew where to point us so the first group ended up loosing ourselves 3 km extra out of the 4km course (of course that the course wasn’t marked well or had cleaned pats and everyone was riding whatever they though is fine).

Also as we were crossing the road the marshal there was having a barbecue and I almost got hit bit a car, they didn’t had any kind of medical assistance or ambulance.

Got back on track and finished the race, but to be honest, without any kind of motivation. 3rd overall and 1st at my age group but I was totally disguised. No one took the responsibility for the problems. At the end of the race we’ve found out the we will receive the prices overall only even if it was stated on their webiste that every category will be awarded. Anyway, after the race, the site was suspended and now as it got back online they’ve modified the data. Shame on you. Also the speech o the organizers before the award ceremony was  outrageous. It was something like that and I quote “… we don’t wanna thanks at all to our sponsors as they should be proud to be associated with us…” Dude, are you nuts? Thanks to your sponsors and participants you should be happy that you’ve earned some money, that you don’t even deserve. You should have returned the registration fee back to the competitors. 80 lei (almost 20 euros) for a bad joke? Shame on you again. From my point of view if the things won’t get better I won’t come back again at this race, not even to watch it. #middlefinger

I would still like to thanks my sponsors and family for support me. They mean a lot and I know that without them I could do this. Many thanks !

Will come back soon with the race report from Paltinis Stage Race.

Cheers,

Vlad
